Matt Lantz, Licensed Professional Counselor Matt Lantz, Licensed Professional Counselor

Meet Matt Lantz

I am really glad you are here, and pursuing healing and care for yourself. I believe one of the best investments you can make is in yourself, and this is a bold and courageous move. I know it can be a difficult step to take the first move and to reach out to a therapist-well done! When I thought of my dream job, I could not think of anything better than sitting down with people as they share the depths of their heart and soul; what a privilege it is to sit alongside people in this journey of discovery.

I now have fifteen years of counseling experience in multiple avenues including churches, a college counseling center, Bethany Christian Services as a therapist and supervisor, and for nearly

ten years in private practice. I especially love working with adolescents and young adults, and helping them navigate through the difficult waters of identity formation. I utilize person- centered and narrative therapy by helping you examine your story and areas of brokenness with curiosity instead of shame.

I wholeheartedly believe in a holistic approach to healing, and therefore I pursued a certification as a brain health professional through Amen Clinics, and when desired can integrate this specialization into our counseling work together. I am an adoptive father myself, and also work with many adoptive families. This led me to also becoming specifically trained in TBRI (trust based relational intervention) which is a training to help families after adoption to build attachment and trust in their family unit. I am also an approved supervisor through the State of Michigan, and enjoy supervising beginning therapists on their journey. My deep desire is that by embracing this deep and difficult soul work, over time you will eventually find a hope and light you never thought possible.

While far from getting it perfect, I aim to love the Lord with all of my heart, soul, and mind. I have been married to my amazing wife, Amanda, for sixteen years, and we have three children. We adopted our oldest child from Haiti, and she is now 13. We also have two biological children; eleven and eight. When I am not in the counseling room, you can find me hanging out with my family, playing or watching sports (especially UofM), or trying to get in a hike, run, or a good book.
